## How to Install a Countertop Water Dispenser
### Tools and Materials:
– Countertop water dispenser
– Measuring tape
– Level
– Phillips head screwdriver
– Adjustable wrench
– Drill and hole saw (for new installations only)
– Caulk gun and caulk
– Flexible water supply line (if existing line is too short)
### Safety Precautions:
– Turn off the water supply to the kitchen sink.
– Open the faucet to release any residual water pressure.
– Read and understand the manufacturer’s instructions before beginning installation.
### Instructions:
1. Determine the Installation Location:
– Choose a location on the countertop where the dispenser will be easily accessible and won’t interfere with other appliances or activities.
– Use a level to ensure the surface is even.
– Measure the diameter of the dispenser base and mark the desired location with a pencil.
2. Install the Mounting Plate (New Installations Only):
– If the countertop does not have a pre-drilled hole for the water supply, you will need to drill a hole using a hole saw.
– Insert the mounting plate into the hole and tighten the screws to secure it.
3. Connect the Water Supply:
– Attach one end of the flexible water supply line to the water valve on the dispenser.
– Tighten the connection using an adjustable wrench.
– Connect the other end of the water supply line to the cold water supply line under the sink.
– Again, tighten the connection using an adjustable wrench.
4. Position the Dispenser:
– Carefully lift the dispenser and position it over the mounting plate or pre-drilled hole.
– Align the holes in the dispenser base with the mounting screws.
– Gently push down on the dispenser to engage the mounting screws.
5. Tighten the Mounting Screws:
– Using a Phillips head screwdriver, tighten the mounting screws to secure the dispenser to the countertop.
– Do not overtighten the screws.
6. Apply Caulking (Optional):
– Apply a thin bead of caulk around the base of the dispenser to prevent any water leaks.
– Smooth out the caulk using a damp cloth or finger.
7. Test the Dispenser:
– Turn on the water supply to the sink.
– Open the spout on the dispenser to check for any leaks.
– If there are any leaks, tighten the connections or apply additional caulk as necessary.
## Troubleshooting:
Water Leaks:
– Check the connections between the water supply line and the dispenser and under the sink. Tighten any loose connections.
– Apply additional caulk around the base of the dispenser.
No Water Flow:
– Ensure that the water supply is turned on.
– Check for any kinks or obstructions in the water supply line.
– Make sure that the water filter (if equipped) is not clogged.
Strange Noises:
– The dispenser may make a humming noise when it is filling the reservoir.
– If the noise is excessive, check if the water supply line is kinked or if there is an air bubble in the system.
## Additional Tips:
– Choose a water dispenser with features that meet your needs, such as temperature control, filtration, or a built-in ice maker.
– Regularly clean and maintain the dispenser to ensure optimal performance.
– Replace the water filter as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure clean and safe drinking water.
– If you have any difficulties or concerns during the installation process, contact a qualified plumber for assistance.
