## Cleaning a Hotpoint Refrigerator Water Dispenser
### Step 1: Gather Materials
Clean cloths
Mild dish soap
Bleach (optional)
Baking soda (optional)
Vinegar (optional)
Soft-bristled brush (optional)
### Step 2: Unplug the Refrigerator
For safety, unplug the refrigerator before cleaning the water dispenser.
### Step 3: Remove the Water Filter (If Applicable)
Locate the water filter housing, usually inside the refrigerator compartment.
Turn the housing counterclockwise and pull it out.
Discard the old filter and insert a new one.

Wipe down the exterior of the water dispenser with a clean cloth dampened with mild dish soap.

Make a paste of baking soda and water.

Wipe away the paste with a damp cloth.
Rinse the dispenser thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a clean cloth.
Option 3: Using Vinegar
Fill the dispenser with white vinegar.
Let it sit for 1 hour.
Drain the vinegar and rinse the dispenser thoroughly with fresh water.
Dry it with a clean cloth.
### Step 6: Clean the Nozzle
Remove the nozzle by gently pulling it off.
Clean the nozzle with a soft-bristled brush and mild dish soap.
Rinse the nozzle thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a clean cloth.
Reattach the nozzle to the dispenser.
### Step 7: Clean the Reservoir (If Applicable)
Option 1: Using Bleach
Unplug the refrigerator.
Open the refrigerator door and locate the reservoir.
Remove the reservoir by pulling it straight out.
Fill the reservoir with a mixture of 1 teaspoon of bleach and 1 quart of water.
Let the solution sit for 30 minutes.
Drain the solution and rinse the reservoir thoroughly with fresh water.
Dry the reservoir with a clean cloth and reinstall it in the refrigerator.
Option 2: Using Baking Soda
Unplug the refrigerator.
Open the refrigerator door and locate the reservoir.
Remove the reservoir by pulling it straight out.
Fill the reservoir with a mixture of 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 quart of water.
Let the solution sit for 30 minutes.
Drain the solution and rinse the reservoir thoroughly with fresh water.
Dry the reservoir with a clean cloth and reinstall it in the refrigerator.
### Step 8: Plug in the Refrigerator
Once the water dispenser is clean, plug the refrigerator back in and allow it to cool down before using it.
## Additional Tips
Clean the water dispenser regularly to prevent the buildup of bacteria and mold.
If the water dispenser is not used frequently, run water through it for a few minutes once a week to keep it clean.
If you notice any changes in the taste or smell of the water, clean the dispenser and check the water filter.
