## How to Add a Water Dispenser to Your Refrigerator
Adding a water dispenser to your refrigerator is a great way to have cold, refreshing water on tap without having to worry about buying and storing bottled water. It’s a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours with basic tools.
### Materials You’ll Need
Water dispenser kit
Drill
1/4-inch drill bit
3/8-inch drill bit
Phillips head screwdriver
Adjustable wrench
### Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Gather Your Materials
Before you start, gather all of the materials you’ll need. You can purchase a water dispenser kit at most hardware stores or online. The kit will include the water dispenser, a mounting bracket, and all of the necessary hardware.
2. Choose a Location
The first step is to choose a location for the water dispenser. The best location is on the front of the refrigerator door, where it will be easy to access. Make sure there is enough space around the dispenser so that you can easily fill a glass or pitcher.
3. Drill the Holes
Once you have chosen a location, use a 1/4-inch drill bit to drill two holes for the mounting bracket. The holes should be 1 1/2 inches apart and 1 inch from the top of the refrigerator door.
Next, use a 3/8-inch drill bit to drill a hole for the water line. The hole should be located directly below the mounting bracket holes, and it should be large enough to accommodate the water line.
4. Mount the Bracket
Insert the mounting bracket into the holes you drilled in Step 3. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screws.
5. Connect the Water Line
Connect the water line to the water dispenser. The water line should be long enough to reach from the dispenser to the water supply valve. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the connections.
6. Install the Dispenser
Insert the water dispenser into the mounting bracket. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screws.
7. Turn on the Water
Turn on the water supply valve. Open the water dispenser and let the water run for a few minutes to clear the air from the line.
8. Enjoy Your Cold Water
Your water dispenser is now installed and ready to use. Enjoy cold, refreshing water on tap whenever you want it.
### Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble getting your water dispenser to work, here are a few troubleshooting tips:
Make sure that the water supply valve is turned on.
Check that the water line is connected securely to the dispenser and the water supply valve.
If there is water leaking from the dispenser, tighten the connections on the water line.
If the water dispenser is not dispensing water, check that the filter is not clogged.
### Additional Tips
If you have a water filter, you should replace it every six months to a year.
Clean the water dispenser regularly with a mild soap and water solution.
If you are going on vacation, turn off the water supply valve and disconnect the water line from the dispenser.
