## How to Install a Single Tub Kitchen Sink
### Materials and Tools
– Single tub kitchen sink
– Plumber’s putty
– Sink flange
– Sink strainer
– Adjustable wrench
– Basin wrench
– Hacksaw
– Measuring tape
– Level
– Caulk gun
– Silicone caulk
### Instructions
**1. Remove the Old Sink**
– Turn off the water supply valves under the sink.
– Disconnect the water lines from the old sink using a basin wrench.
– Remove the nuts holding the sink in place and lift it out of the countertop.
**2. Prepare the Countertop**
– Clean the countertop surface where the new sink will be installed.
– Apply a thin bead of plumber’s putty around the sink flange.
– Place the sink flange over the drain hole in the countertop.
– Tighten the flange nuts to secure it.
**3. Install the Sink**
– Apply a layer of plumber’s putty to the rim of the sink.
– Position the sink over the sink flange and press it into place.
– Tighten the mounting nuts evenly to secure the sink.
**4. Connect the Water Lines**
– Connect the water supply lines to the sink using an adjustable wrench.
– Tighten the nuts until they are snug, but do not overtighten.
**5. Install the Sink Strainer**
– Remove the old sink strainer from the drain hole.
– Insert the new sink strainer into the drain hole and tighten it by hand.
**6. Check for Leaks**
– Turn on the water supply valves.
– Check for any leaks around the sink, water lines, and drain strainer.
– Tighten any loose connections as needed.
**7. Caulk the Sink**
– Apply a bead of silicone caulk around the edges of the sink where it meets the countertop.
– Smooth the caulk with your finger or a caulking tool.
– Allow the caulk to dry completely.
### Tips
– If the countertop is made of natural stone, such as granite or marble, use a non-abrasive cleaner to clean it before applying any materials.
– If the sink is heavy, it may be helpful to have an assistant lift it into place.
– If you are replacing a kitchen faucet, it is a good idea to do so at the same time as installing the new sink.
– Regularly clean the sink and caulk to prevent mold and mildew buildup.
